COTA Coordinator

Department: Occupational Therapy Services
Location: Grand Rapids, MI

The Occupational Therapy Coordinator oversees all Occupational Therapy programming for adolescents receiving residential services at Wedgwood. This position assists and supervises the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants. The Occupational Therapy Coordinator also has direct responsibility for facilitating staff growth and knowledge of Occupational Therapy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide leadership and direction setting for Occupational Therapy programming within the agency.
  • Communicate regularly with other agency staff:
    • With Clinicians and Associate Directors of Residential to ensure integration of Occupational Therapy.
    • With home employees to keep them informed of the role and responsibilities of Occupational Therapy within the milieu.
  • Work cooperatively with various other agency staff to stimulate creative and therapeutic activities with residents.
  • Participate in and/or provides leadership to assigned agency committees as it relates to the Occupational Therapy program area.
  • Attend various agency meetings to be aware of program planning and changes.
  • Provide Occupational Therapy staff training in specific areas of Occupational Therapy focus for adolescent clients in residential care.
  • Oversee the management and use of the equipment and facilities including the OT room.
  • Responsible for the hiring, training, on-going supervision, discipline, and review of evaluations for the Occupational Therapy staff.
  • Meet regularly with the Occupational Therapy staff on an individual basis to discuss program planning, assess their needs and give direction.
  • Oversee the supervision of interns in the Occupational Therapy department.
  • Encourage and design objective evaluation techniques to assess program efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Assist with overseeing of annual budget.
  • Regular, predictable, and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position. The employee must maintain a consistent work schedule and be available during the assigned hours to perform the duties of this role.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree in Occupational Therapy or an equivalent degree from an accredited university.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in the field of Occupational Therapy under professional supervision.
  • A valid national certification and state license.
  • Prior group facilitating experience preferred.
  • Subscription to the Statement of Faith of Wedgwood Christian Services and agreement with the goals, purpose, and objectives of the agency.

HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday, 40 hours Weekly, 1st and early 2nd shift hours available
