JOB GOAL: Reviews and enters coded medical encounters to accurately reflect charges, maximize revenue capture and ensure compliance with state and federal laws, Medicare, Medicaid, CMH’s and other third-party funding source requirements. Reviews and records payments from all insurances, clients, and third-party funding sources to ensure accurate client financial records are maintained. Responds to billing and collection inquiries in a timely manner. Regularly works outstanding accounts receivable effectively and efficiently to meet accounts receivable management expectations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reviews the coded Service Activity Logs (SALS) for accuracy, revenue capture and compliance with state and federal laws, government and other third-party payor requirements, and special funding source requirements.
- Creates claims from the coded SALS in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) in a timely manner to accurately bill for services and maximize practice revenue.
- Accurately and timely posts government, commercial, client and all other payments at the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) level.
- Enters credits and adjustments into the Billing Software System as required to maintain accurate client financial records.
- Processes insurance and client refunds in a timely manner.
- Reviews claim rejections, corrects errors and resubmits as required to maximize revenue.
- Monitors outstanding balances in client accounts to ensure appropriate and timely action is taken to receive payment.
- Assist with client billing claims resolution for all funding sources.
- Assist with the AR Aging and collections process. Generate bad debt write-offs, as appropriate.
- Cross train and serve as back up for AR/billing functions as needed.
- Verifies that all insurance EFT & paper checks have corresponding EOB or ERA.
- Monitors for problems or delays in electronic payment systems.
- Answers telephone and responds to voice and emails about billing and/or collection inquiries promptly.
- Adheres to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state and local requirements to ensure HIPAA, safety standards and practice protocols are followed.
- Participates regularly in supervision meetings with the Billing Manager as requested.
- Participate in Billing Team meetings for the sharing of ideas, feedback and department planning.
- Utilize opportunities provided for growth and professional development; this includes ongoing participation in training sessions or workshops.
- Express ideas, suggestions, and concerns in a timely and appropriate manner, using established channels and opportunities to seek resolution.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 15 years experience in billing and electronic claims submission.
- CMRS or other equivalent certification
- Working knowledge of CPT and ICD10 coding required.
- Familiarity with computerized billing programs and Excel required
- Knowledge of billing revenue cycle preferred.
- Strong Customer Service skills.
- Subscription to the Statement of Faith of Wedgwood Christian Services and agreement with the goal, purpose and objectives of the agency.
HOURS OF WORK: Monday- Friday, 40 hours
Starting Rate: $24-27 hourly
