Supervision Specialist (BCBA)

Department: Autism Center for Child Development
Location: Grand Rapids, MI

The Supervision Specialist assists in the design and oversight of the implementation of behavioral intervention programming for children with autism spectrum disorders in the Autism Center for Child Development (ACCD).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in designing and overseeing the implementation of behavioral intervention programming for children with autism spectrum disorders in the EIBI and AS programs.
    • Oversee the implementation of programming and ongoing data collection.
    • Monitor client progress.
    • Make suggestions to the supervising BCBA regarding changes to programs based on supervision of the clients and technicians as well as frequent review of data.
    • Assist in preparing progress reports, treatment plans, discharge summaries, authorization requests, and other documentation as required.
    • Ensure paperwork, data collection, billing, and related documentation requirements are completed in the time frames required.
  • Assist with the client intake process at the ACCD.
    • Conduct initial and ongoing verbal behavior/language and skills assessments (e.g., VB-MAPP, PEAK).
    • Conduct functional assessments/analyses as indicated.
    • Collaboratively develop goals based on assessment information and family priorities.
    • Assist in writing treatment plans and protocols for skills acquisition and behavior reduction targets based on the best available evidence and clinical judgment.
  • Train, lead, supervise, and mentor RBTs, BCaBAs, and individuals seeking board certification.
    • Assist with initial training and orientation of new employees, coordinate trainings with Department Assistants, Lead Technicians, and other Wedgwood staff.
    • Conduct initial and annual competency assessments for RBTs.
    • Provide at least monthly individual supervision of RBTs, BCaBAs, and individuals seeking board certification.
    • Assist with weekly group supervision of RBTs, BCaBAs, and individuals seeking board certification. Consult with the Director to coordinate information disseminated in team meetings.
    • Complete regular treatment integrity assessments of RBTs and remediate any deficiencies.
    • Ensure paperwork, data collection, billing, and related documentation requirements are completed in the time frames required.
    • Review all designated written reports as needed.
    • Educate and direct staff in agency policies, procedures, and principles of teamwork, as needed.
    • Evaluate staff performance and provide feedback as required.
    • Provide input to BCBAs, Clinical Supervisors, and the Director for performance evaluations.
    • Coordinate with HR and implement disciplinary procedures as necessary.
  • Provide caseload coverage as assigned.
  • Consult and collaborate with supports coordinators, insurance representatives, school personnel, daycare employees, medical professionals, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Assist with administrative tasks and oversight of the ACCD.
  • Coordinate with the Department Assistants to ensure smooth operation of ACCD business (e.g., parent arrival, staff issues, scheduling).
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment in the management of client services and supervision of treatment team according to ACCD policies.
  • Support treatment team concerns and bridge communication to program leadership.
  • Work cooperatively with the Human Resources department in staff hiring, participating in interviews, as needed.
  • Represent the ACCD professionally and ethically to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain minimum billable requirements.
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations and ACCD policies.
  • Responsible for tracking and monitoring utilization and outcome data, including quarterly reporting for the all agency report card.
  • Responsible for timely Quality Assurance compliance as related to employee’s roles and functions.
  • Regular, predictable, and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position. The employee must maintain a consistent work schedule and be available during the assigned hours to perform the duties of this role.

  • Administration:
    • Provide a bridge between agency administration and program staff through awareness and communication of agency planning, policies, and procedures.
    • Participate in agency budgeting, planning and policy development as needed.
  • Professional Growth:
    • Keep informed of current and potential community program developments and activities.
    • Utilize educational opportunities and resources offered by the agency and through the profession for continued development of skills and clinical expertise.
    • Use the knowledge and skills of his/her supervisor to increase understanding of treatment programming and leadership skills to further professional development.
    • Participate in required trainings.
    • Maintain current BACB certification and Michigan state license for practicing behavior analysis.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited program
  • Certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
  • Licensed to practice behavior analysis in the state of Michigan.
  • At least one year of experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorders.
  • Evidence of being able to communicate expressively and receptively.
  • Subscription to the Statement of Faith of Wedgwood Christian Youth and Family Services and agreement with the goal, purpose, and objectives of the agency.

HOURS OF WORK: FT: Monday- Friday, 40 hours
